Sports Equipment - Surfboards / Kite / Paddle / Wake Boards

Surf, Kite, Paddle, and Wake boards are accepted as checked baggage with a fee, and will not be included in determining the free baggage allowance (exception Australia/New Zealand).   Charges will be based on non-stop, direct, and/or connecting service on Hawaiian Airlines only for travel between the USA and PPG/PPT//MNL/ICN/Australia/Japan.

The following charges are for each direction; prices are subject to change. 

Charges are assessed per container, per way

Domestic

Wholly within the State of Hawaii

Between any two points in Hawaii - 35.00 USD

North America

Between North America and Hawaii - 100.00 USD
Between points within the Continental USA - 100.00 USD

En route stopovers exceeding 4 hours may result in point to point charges being applicable.

International

Pago Pago / Papeete / Manila

Between PPG/PPT/MNL and USA - 150 USD
Between any other points for international travel not listed above - 150 USD

Australia

From USA to Australia - 150 USD
From Australia to USA - 150 AUD 
Travel wholly within Australia  - 150 AUD

Japan

From USA to Japan - 150  USD
From Japan to USA - 15,000 JPY
Travel wholly within Japan - 15,000 JPY

Korea

From USA to Korea - 150 USD
From Korea to USA - 150,000 KRW
Travel wholly within Korea - 150,000 KRW

Taiwan

From USA to Taiwan - 150 USD
From Taiwan to USA - 4500 TWD
Travel wholly within Taiwan - 4500 TWD 

For all other International Travel 

For any other international travel not listed above - 150 USD

** EXCEPTION:
For travel between USA and Australia or New Zealand, boards will be included in the free baggage allowance when travel is non-stop, direct and/or connecting service.  Boards in excess of the free baggage allowance and/or when en route stopover exceeding 24 hours occurs, will always be subject to the applicable baggage charges.

En route stopovers exceeding 24 hours will result in point to point charges being applicable.  


Conditions of Acceptance

  • Fin must be removed or well padded
  • The entire board must be protected by a suitable container
  • The transportation of the board is subject to availability of space
  • Hawaiian Airlines is not responsible for the ground delivery of the board and the passenger will have to pick it up at the airport once the passenger is notified that it has arrived.
  • There is a limit of two (2) boards per container; charges are assessed per container each way.
  • Maximum weight for Surf, Kite, Paddle, and Wake boards is 100lbs (45kgs.)*  
    *If item 51-100lbs applicable overweight charges will apply.
    EXCEPTION:  For travel between the United States and Australia or New Zealand the maximum weight accepted will always be 70 lbs. or 32kgs for any item described in this rule.
  • Maximum length of Surf, Kite, Paddle, and Wake boards
    • Wholly within Hawaii: 131 inches
    • All other U.S. Domestic travel: 115 inches
    • International: 115 inches
