Sports Equipment - Bicycles

Hawaiian Airlines will accept non-motorized touring or racing bicycles with single seats and bicycles with tandem seats. You can check in your bicycle at the same time you check in at the ticket counter.

Bicycles and any attachable parts will not be included in determining the free baggage allowance and will always be subject to charge, whether or not presented as a single piece.

Note:  Excludes unicycles, break-apart bicycles or any other type of cycle which can be packed into a standard suitcase.  When in excess, each suitcase will be subject to the excess baggage charge.

Interlining sports equipment as baggage Hawaiian Airlines to Hawaiian Airlines/Other Airline permitted if we have a baggage agreement with that carrier.  Hawaiian Airlines will collect all charges including other airline's handling charge.

North America

Between North America and Hawaii - 100.00 USD
Between points within the Continental USA - 100.00 USD

Enroute stopovers exceeding 4 hours may result in point to point charges being applicable.

International

Australia

From USA to Australia - 150 USD

Travel wholly within Austrlia  - 150 AUD 

Japan

From USA to Japan - 150  USD

Korea

From USA to Korea - 150 USD

Taiwan

Excess Weight Charges

Items exceeding 50lbs, but not more than 100lbs, will also be subject to overweight charges.

  • Note: Maximum weight allowance for Australia/New Zealand is 70lbs (32kgs).

Conditions of Acceptance

  1. Bicycles must have the handlebar fixed sideways and pedals removed or pedals and handlebars must be enclosed in plastic foam or similar material.
  2. Bicycles and any attachable parts must be adequately packed in a box or hard case.
  3. You must sign a waiver of liability at time of check-in for Hawaiian Airlines to transport the bicycle and/or any attachable parts.
    Hawaiian Airlines will not be responsible for damage to or loss of inadequately/unsuitably packed, uncrated or unprotected bicycles.
  4. Transportation of bicycles is subject to availability of space.
  5. Hawaiian Airlines will not be responsible for the ground delivery of a bicycle not accommodated on the flight it was originally accepted for as checked baggage.
  6. Maximum weight for bicycle and attachable parts and container is 100 lbs. (45kgs.)* and 115 linear inches (292 dimensional centimeters).  

    *If item 51-100lbs applicable overweight charges will apply. 
    EXCEPTION:  For travel between the United States and Australia or New Zealand the maximum weight accepted will always be 70 lbs. or 32kgs for any item described in this rule.
