'Ohana by Hawaiian

The name ‘Ohana, the Hawaiian word for family, also conveys the mission of the new operation: bringing people together from near and far. For Hawai‘i residents on Molokai and Lanai, and for those traveling to these communities, ‘Ohana by Hawaiian provides safe, reliable, on-time air service, fully integrated with the Hawaiian Airlines network, offering seamless connectivity throughout the Islands, and onto North America and the Asia-Pacific regions. ‘Ohana by Hawaiian provides convenience, quality and authentic Hawaiian hospitality for all who travel to and from these island communities.

'Ohana by Hawaiian Routes

‘Ohana by Hawaiian flights are operated by Empire Airlines and fly to and from Honolulu (HNL) to both Molokai (MKK) and Lanai (LNY). Flights to Molokai will begin on March 11th, 2014. We will begin flights to Lanai shortly after on March 18th, 2014.


Baggage Fees

Carry-On Baggage:

Each ticketed passenger is limited to one piece of carry-on baggage and one personal item. Carry-on items that do not fit in an overhead compartment will be valet checked at the gate. Valet bags will be available for pickup upon deplaning.

Check-In Luggage:

‘Ohana by Hawaiian baggage fees are assessed per piece, each way and are non-refundable.

Each piece of baggage will be subject to the charges described below. Excess weight and oversize pieces will be subject to additional charges as shown below.

Baggage rules will apply based on a single carrier's rules for the entire journey subject to DOT regulations that govern which airline's rules will apply on a single ticket. En route stopovers exceeding 4 hours may result in point to point charges being applicable.

Baggage Allowance:

The following baggage fees apply to luggage that meet the below requirements:

Maximum Dimension (length + width + height): 62 linear inches (157 cm);
Maximum Weight: 50 pounds (23kg)

Pualani Platinum members receive the first three (3) bags complimentary. Applies to members only. Applicable overweight and excess baggage fees will apply. The next additional bag will be charged at the 4th bag fee.

Pualani Gold members receive the first two (2) bags complimentary. Applies to members only. Applicable overweight and excess baggage fees will apply. The next additional bag will be charged at the 3rd bag fee.

Excess Weight Fee:

In additional to per piece baggage charges, excess weight fees and oversized baggage charges will apply to those items that exceed maximum size and dimension requirements.

Change / Cancel Flight

Reservations purchased for ‘Ohana by Hawaiian are generally non-refundable.

However, rather than forfeit the cost of the entire ticket, before departure passengers may:

  • Change your reservation online or by phone to another date, OR
  • Cancel your reservation by phone, and use the ticket(s) within one year of purchase (if fully unused) or within one year of initial use (if partially used) towards another reservation

After cancellation, once you are ready to book your flight, please contact us by phone to apply your existing tickets to a new reservation.

Children Traveling Alone

Children are permitted to travel alone on 'Ohana by Hawaiian flights as well as connecting flights between Hawaiian Airlines and 'Ohana by Hawaiian. Applicable fees and restrictions will apply.

Traveling with Pets

Carry-On Pet:

For the comfort of both our guests and pets, 'Ohana by Hawaiian will accept up to three (3) carry-on pets per flight.

Check-In Pet:

'Ohana by Hawaiian accepts up to one (1) check-in pet per flight. Check-in pets will be permitted on connecting flights between Hawaiian Airlines and 'Ohana by Hawaiian. Applicable fees and restrictions will apply.

Service Animals:

Service animals are permitted on 'Ohana by Hawaiian flights. The bulkhead seats on this aircraft are exit rows which cannot accommodate service animals. Therefore, the service animal must be able to fit on the floor in front of guest, and must not obstruct the aisle or other areas on the aircraft that must remain unobstructed.

Sport Equipment Restrictions and Fees

‘Ohana by Hawaiian accepts surf, kite, paddle and wake boards as checked baggage with the following restrictions:

**If item weighs 51-100 lbs, applicable overweight charges will apply  

General Restrictions:

  • Fin must be removed or well padded
  • The entire board must be protected by a suitable container
  • The transportation of the board is subject to availability of space
  • Hawaiian Airlines is not responsible for the ground delivery of the board and the passenger will have to pick it up at the airport once the passenger is notified that it has arrived.
  • There is a limit of two (2) boards per container; charges are assessed per container each way.

Sport Equipment Fees:

Baggage fees will apply and are charged per piece for each direction. Voluntary stopovers will incur point to point charges; prices are subject to change. 

En route stopovers exceeding 4 hours may result in point to point charges being applicable.
